LA RONDINE

Puccini’s bittersweet love story makes a rare Met appearance, with soprano Angel Blue starring as the French courtesan Magda, opposite tenor Jonathan Tetelman in his highly anticipated company debut as Ruggero, an idealistic young man who offers her an alternative to her life of excess. Maestro Speranza Scappucci conducts Nicolas Joël’s Art Deco–inspired staging, which transports audiences from the heart of Parisian nightlife to a dreamy vision of the French Riviera.

DEAD MAN WALKING

METROPOLITAN OPERA

DEAD MAN WALKING

The most widely performed new opera of the last two decades, Dead Man Walking is adapted from the groundbreaking memoir by Sister Helen Prejean. It concerns her ministry to condemned murderers on death row, and in bringing this powerful story to the operatic stage, composer Jake Heggie created a score that recalls Sister Helen’s prose and her advocacy style: direct, unaffected, and unflinchingly honest—but not without a deep understanding of the heart and humanity inside each one of us.

MEROLA OPERA

Back Home: Through the Stage Door

A celebration of the joy of making and performing music together — a joy so many of us have been deprived of during these challenging times. Filmed at San Francisco’s magnificent Herbst Theatre and using classics and lesser known gems of the vocal repertoire as its words and music, the film seeks to capture the many moments, small and large, that comprise opera artists’ lives as they return to creating music together for the stage.
